Feed that big band addiction – for just a fiver

Missed the Lincoln Center band at Symphony Hall last night? Too late for the Mike Fletcher Big Band at the Rush Hour Blues? Or did you catch them both and you are still aching for more of those massed horns and reeds, those classic charts and that exuberant groove?

Fear not – the fun has already started at The Spotted Dog in Digbeth, for a full afternoon of brass delight, and at a bargain price of only a fiver! At 3pm it’s The Notebenders, the band inspired by the late Andy Hamilton; at 4.15pm it’s Kinda Dukish (the name says it all); and at 5.30pm it’s the Mike Fletcher Big Band, featuring all your favourite ex-Conservatoire heroes, from the Morgan brothers and Lluis Mather to Percy Pursglove and Mike Adlington in the trumpets.

From 7pm there is a jam session. For the whole shebang it’s £5 for adults, and under-16s get in free.

The Spotted Dog is at 104 Warwick Street, Digbeth B12 0NH.
