Sebastian Scotney of LondonJazz blog is as cool, calm and jazz-savvy as can be. So when something gets up his nose, it’s worth paying attention.
In this instance, it’s one of those little, irritating, throwaway comments that suggests so much ignorance below the surface. And this from a newspaper that is quite intimately involved with Jazz FM! Should know better…
This has annoyed me. Today’s Financial Times review of Italian pianist Kekko Fornarelli ends with the following paragraph, a generalized cheap Parthian shot directed at British jazz musicians.
Interestingly the review was not written by Mike Hobart, the usual FT person. In my opinion Mike’s reviews are usually spot on.
