Darius Brubeck, eldest son of Dave, brings his quartet to the Darwin Suite in Derby Assembly Rooms this evening, courtesy of Derby Jazz. It’s been selling well, so you might be lucky in picking up the last few tickets.
With Darius on piano will be one of Derby’s favourite jazz sons, Dave O’Higgins on saxophone, with Matt Ridley on bass and Wesley Gibbens on drums.
In addition to building on his father’s music, Darius has strong African influences in his writing and playing, gained while heading up a university jazz course in Durban, South Africa. He is now resident in London.
The Darius Brubeck Quartet is at Derby Assembly Rooms tonight from 8pm, tickets £13.25 and more information here.
