Jim Hall 1930-2013 R.I.P.

Very sad to hear that the great guitarist Jim Hall has died. Hall had such a glorious natural style of playing. From Sonny Rollins’ The Bridge in 1962 right up to Hemispheres, his duo/quartet collaboration with Bill Frisell in 2008, I feel like he has been a part of my life. He leaves a rich body of work behind him to cheer us all.

London Jazz News has a beautiful tribute from British guitarist Mike Walker. It is here.

  1. That’s sad news, Jim Hall was one of jazz’s best “listeners”, his sensitive responses to others seem as though they were part of the composition. He will be missed.
