The Matt Ridley Quartet played The Red Lion in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter last Friday, courtesy of Birmingham Jazz, and photographer Garry Corbett was there, down on his knees – well, for some of the evening anyway – looking for a fresh angle. He tells me the ants were mighty impressed.

  1. Good gig but often a little too polite. Jason Yarde added some missing bite but at times the rest of the combo sounded more like his backing band.
